Is Blackpool in lockdown? NO!!

Is Blackpool in lockdown? NO!!

4th of October, 2020

We have had lots of calls and messages over the past week asking if Blackpool is in lockdown and whether or not visitors and tourists can travel to Blackpool. Despite many fake news stories on social media, Blackpool is open for business and still welcoming guests every day! Hopefully this article will answer some of your questions.

Is Blackpool in lockdown? Can I still travel to Blackpool?

No, Blackpool is not in lockdown. Hotels, guest houses, apartments and holiday homes in Blackpool are open and welcoming guests with open socially-distanced arms daily. Visitors and tourists are welcome to travel to Blackpool on holiday, so long as you are travelling with people from your own household or support bubble, and adhering to the rule of 6.

Why am I reading about lockdown and restrictions in Blackpool then?

Until the end of September, the COVID-19 reproduction rate was very low compared to the rest of the surrounding county, Lancashire. Where other areas of Lancashire and the UK had already been placed under additional restrictions such as Some additional safety measures have been put in place, but visitors are still welcome to come to Blackpool on holiday.

I am worried about catching the virus. Where did it come from?

After some research and tracing, the rise in cases in Blackpool has been traced to community transmission in North Shore. As a precaution, residents across Blackpool are now not allowed to meet with people from outside their household or support bubble in any venue, indoors or outdoors. This applies to tourists also.

What about the attractions? Are they open?

The simple answer is YES, the attractions are open! Most attractions now prefer guests to book online and arrive at the right time to avoid people gathering at the entrances. Indoor venues will require you to wear a mask or face covering, unless you are exempt. Pubs and bars will be closing at 10pm.

What is the best accommodation in Blackpool for me to book to stay safe and protected?

In the last few months, we have welcomed many new guests who have never booked a self-catering holiday before. At Blackpool Resort Family, we offer the convenience of a hotel or guest house in your own self-contained luxury holiday apartment. No other guests will have access to your property and staff will only enter your space in an emergency, so you are in complete control of your environment. We offer contact-less check-in, and have launched a new online shop so that you can order and pay for everything contact-free!

Look for the accreditations! Both VisitEngland and the AA have created COVID-specific accreditations, to ease guests’ anxiety when travelling away from home during the pandemic. Look for the Good To Go mark, or the AA COVID-Confident Accreditation on the website or at the property itself.

All of our holiday apartments in Blackpool and holiday homes are signed up to both Accreditation schemes, meaning that your safety and protection is our number one priority. You can read more about our Good To Go mark and AA COVID-Confident accreditation here.

What can I do when everything closes at 10pm?

Although the pubs and bars in Blackpool are currently closing at 10pm, the Blackpool Illuminations are on until midnight for anyone who wants to stroll, ride or drive through the lights. Some of our holiday apartments have a view of the Blackpool Tower, meaning you don’t even have to leave your apartment to see the grand lady lit up in all her night-time splendour!
